A shocking video shows a school bus attempting to cross a flooded roadway and being dangerously swept away. A student was on board at the time, and the bus driver could have avoided the risk if he had exercised better decision-making and caution.

The bus driver was arrested for his reckless move. He also lost his job when he was fired on October 16.
The driver has been identified as Nathan DeYoung from Leander, Texas. He is now facing charges of failing to obey warning signs /barricades over road and for endangering a child.

DeYoung was also booked into the Williams County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He has since bailed out.
DeYoung was still new at his job before he pulled that reckless and irresponsible act. He had only been employed with Leander Independent School District since August.
District officials said that what made his act more dangerous was that by driving around a barricade blocking a low-water crossing on Country Road 177 at around 8:30 a.m., he became stranded in flood waters raging down Brushy Creek, and with a student on board at that.
It was a relief that Leander police and fire officials rescued DeYoung and the student. Both the driver and the student escaped any injuries.
The student received treatment at the scene after rescue and was soon released to the family.
The school district also assured parents that their bus drivers are always instructed to never drive through water over the roadway, an order DeYoung defied leading to the loss of his job.
