Western Europe just started relaxing after a summer with the longest heatwave on record, exceptionally high temperatures in Portugal and Spain, unusual forest fires in Sweden and a few hot September and October weeks. But now all that has come to an abrupt halt as fall seems to have been skipped and winter set in to parts of the UK, France and Germany.
The higher parts of France, the Alps and Pyrenees, had been waiting for snow for weeks and all of a sudden got more than they bargained for. The alpine resorts were happy to receive it as for them it was delayed by a few weeks.
Meanwhile, parts of Scotland and north-east England woke up to an unexpected early white blanket, as most of Western Europe felt much colder temperatures due to arctic air blowing from the north.

One meteorologist called it "some of the coldest October days in a decade," as pictures of a postman in shorts quickly went viral.
In parts of County Durham and North Yorkshire people who headed out early found their cars covered and frozen.

Mr John West at the Met Office said: "With the temperatures that we are seeing - struggling to reach double figures across the country - these are some of the coldest October days in a decade, much colder than average. We have seen some snow this morning, more up in Scotland. Aviemore has had around 1cm."
"It is going to be cold over the next couple of days but will start to peter out tomorrow.

"We will have some high pressure building in giving us a more settled picture, but we may continue to see some snow showers today and tomorrow. Temperatures will recover quite slowly but it is not likely to be as wintry."
Germans also posted pictures of the first snow in the southern region and noted that it was ’20 degrees last Sunday, snow today.’

"A mild winter could be in store for much of the United States this winter according to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center. In the U.S. Winter Outlook for December through February, above-average temperatures are most likely across the northern and western U.S., Alaska and Hawaii."
As we have long know the Earth has a Weather Climate Cycle, or has everyone forgotten the lows and highs the droughts and the floods in the last few years.
It is now Europe's turn.
It’s called weather folks. Watch it for awhile and it will change. In the states when it gets warm in the late fall we call it Indian summer. If it gets cold early we call it a son of a ……………you know the rest. In other words, dig your underwear out of your butt. It’s just weather.
