Sunday night saw the First Family celebrating Halloween at the White House and handing out candy to kids. The festive event took place at the highly decorated South Lawn and there were pumpkins and fall colored leaves scattered around the display. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump handed the candy out while a military band played spooky music.

The couple passed out Hershey bars, Twizzlers, and more to children dressed as everything from superheroes to astronauts and princesses. The decorations spanned across the South Portico and the usual white columns bore a spooky theme covered in cornstalks.

Although Melania and the President were not dressed up, they chatted it up with visitors in all types of costumes as mist from a fog machine added to the spooky atmosphere. The attendees were mostly military families as well as local children.
The U.S. Air Force Band, the Rolling Strings, played themes from "Harry Potter," "The Phantom of the Opera," "The Addams Family," and many more. The first lady handed out candy to the children from wicker baskets as parents lined up to take photos.

Once the sun set, the White House took on an eerie orange glow for the party which made for a spooky end to the night. Attendee Tammy Thueringer said, "Looking pretty spooky at the White House Halloween party."
