Federal officials and CNN both confirmed on Monday that another suspicious package was sent to the network. It was intercepted at an Atlanta post office.
Authorities have yet to determine if the suspicious package is linked to the ones allegedly sent by Cesar Sayoc, although the CNN package bears some similarities with the previous packages Sayoc sent.
Officials also said that a U.S. Post Office at 400 Pryor Street SW was evacuated shortly after the local police received calls at around 9:30 a.m.
Bomb squads from both the FBI and Atlanta police rushed to the scene, only about 1.2 miles from the CNN headquarters in Atlanta.
While the FBI is yet to issue a statement on their suspect behind the package, an agency spokesperson said that the intercepted mailing “has all the outward appearances” of the suspect’s work.
Federal authorities in Florida have arrested the 56-year-old Sayoc on Friday. One of the angles the authorities are looking at is that the fear that Sayoc might have sent a package as late as Thursday, a day before his arrest.
Authorities found a list of more than 100 possible targets of Sayoc including political figures, journalists and entertainers. Officials are busy contacting everyone on the list.
The White House through press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had earlier said that the notion being perpetuated by Trump’s opponents and critics that he is responsible for the packages sent to his political foes is simply “disgraceful.”
Trump vowed to let authorities work on the issue, and commended the agencies involved.

The President also aired his sentiments regarding the unfair coverage mainstream media has given on the package issue.

This shit needs to end!! For Gods sake this is supposed to be America! Every time some retard pulls shit with a bomb… real or fake, or a firearm all it serves to do is limit the freedoms of law abiding citizens such as myself. You might suspect that this was a bi-partisan effort. Behind a 36 year registered Democrat, who switched in 2016 to a Republican registration, is (are) someone who has something explosive to say, and sends bombitos, instead of bonbons or flowers. Wouldn’t it be funny if the next bunch of dud-bombs were identical to the first bunch of plastic-pipe bombs (plastic explosives, right?) but just kept coming even though the mastermind is now in custody?
