Just as everything else, busses in China also have surveillance cameras. And thus when it was reported that a bus has swirled off the brand new Chongqing bridge this weekend, everyone was anxious to learn what had happened.

Police have now released the footage from inside the vehicle, showing a brawl between a passenger and the bus driver which led to the 15-person carrying vehicle plunging off a bridge in southwestern China.

All on board are presumed dead.

The eight-second surveillance video released by Chongqing city police on its Weibo social media account shows the two people arguing heavily and then starting a fistfight. As they grapple each other in the final moments before the bus suddenly veers across oncoming traffic, it is clear to see that the bus goes off the bridge.

The video shows a woman slapping the bus driver with a phone. The driver hits back and loses control of the bus, sending it plunging into the river. It would appear that the person attacking the bus driver was a 48-year-old unnamed passenger who asked the driver to pull over as she had missed her stop. Given that she didn’t feel like walking over the bridge all the way back, she yelled from the back and asked the driver to stop. The driver turned his head back several times arguing with her.

Surprisingly enough, the social media comments on Weibo started attacking women drivers after early reports from local media cited a wrong eyewitness account that a woman wearing heels driving in the wrong direction caused the accident.
