Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley said Friday he will be leaving the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Grassley will become chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
“The economy is better than it’s been in years and there’s a sense of optimism about the future of our country that people haven’t felt in a long time thanks to the pro-growth policies of a Republican President and a Republican majority in Congress,” Grassley said.
“Looking ahead, at the Finance Committee, I want to continue to work to make sure that as many Americans as possible get to experience this good economy for themselves. That means working to provide Americans with additional tax relief and tax fairness so they can spend more of their hard-earned money on what’s important to them.”
“It means giving small businesses more of the tools they need to hire additional workers, invest in their companies and give their employees the benefits and wages they’ve earned. It means expanding market opportunities for farmers, manufacturers and service providers to export more ‘Made-in-America’ goods and services all across the globe for the benefit of workers in all of these valued sectors of the American economy,” Grassley said.

Grassley will be elected to the position by the Senate on Jan. 3, 2019.

Chuck Grassley </a> (R-Iowa) announced Friday that he would step down to take over the chairmanship of the Finance Committee."
In a tweet Friday, Graham praised Chuck Grassley for his "steady hand" leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee. "I very much appreciate Senate @ChuckGrassley’s leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He chaired the committee with a steady hand, sense of fundamental fairness, and resolve," Graham tweeted. "His leadership serves as a model to us all."

Graham tweeted, “If I am fortunate enough to be selected by my colleagues to serve as Chairman, I will push for the appointment and Senate confirmation of highly qualified conservative judges to the federal bench and aggressive oversight of the Department of Justice and FBI.”

Graham has had a reputation over the years for being a moderate Republican who favored reaching across the aisle in lieu of standing on principle.

His image drastically changed during the hearings over the nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Graham gave a fiery rebuke to his colleagues on the Judiciary Committee for trying to smear the honorable judge as a serial and attempted rapist.

He said during the hearing:
Are Are you aware that at 9:23 on the night of July the night the day you were nominated to the Supreme Court by President Trump Senator Schumer said 23 minutes after your nomination “I will oppose judge Cavanaugh's nomination with everything I have I have a bipartisan,
and I hope a bipartisan majority will do the same, the stakes are simply too high for anything less”?
Well, if you weren't aware of it, you are now.
Did you meet with Senator Dianne Feinstein on August 20th and did you know that her staff had already recommended a lawyer to Dr. Ford?
Did you know that she and her staff had these allegations for over 20 days?
If you wanted an FBI investigation, you could have come to us.
What you want to do is destroy this guy's life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020, you said that not me.
You have nothing to apologize for.
When you see Sotomayor and Kagan tell them that Lindsey said hello. I voted for them. I would never do to them what you have done to this guy. It is the most unethical sham since I've been in politics, and if you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn't have done what you've done to this guy.
I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through.
You have interacted with professional women all your life, not one accusation. You're supposed to be Bill Cosby when you're a junior and senior in high school. And all of a sudden you got over it. It's been my understanding that if you drug women and rape them for two years in high school, you probably don't stop.
Boy, Y'all want power. You want this seat. I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham.
Bring on the thug life :) I love Lindsay Graham. He will be great at this job.
