The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that even with the holidays coming along and people getting ready for the celebrations, the public’s safety remains their topmost priority. A Utah-based Swift Beef Co. Then is recalling nearly 100,000 pounds of raw ground beef products over possible E.coli contamination just in time for the much-awaited Thanksgiving.

The said meat products were produced late last month and the possible contamination was confirmed only last week.
Officials from the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the contamination was discovered by their inspectors on November 15 and they issued a recall the following day.
They are also advising the public that all recalled items “bear establishment number ‘EST.628’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The list of recalled products include bulk products produced on October 24:
2,000 pound - bulk pallets of Swift Ground Beef 81/19 (81% lean) Fine Grind Combo bearing product code 42982.
8-10 pound - plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 81/19 (81% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42410.
8-10 pound - plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 93/07 (93% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42413.
8-10 pound - plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 85/15 (85% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42415.
8-10 pound - plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon BEEF” Ground Beef 73/27 (73% lean) Coarse Grind bearing product code 42510.
The affected items were shipped to local distributors in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Anyone who may be worried that they may have gotten sick over contaminated meat from the said batch is requested to immediately contact their health care provider.
