The Wikipedia page of US President Donald Trump is intermittently showing a picture of a penis. His usual portrait photo had been replaced by a picture of a dick by internet users, after which an online war erupted between Wikipedia editors and hackers, a Wiki editor reveals today.
Normally an official White House portrait is shown on Wikipedia, where President Trump poses next to an American flag. That was different on Thanksgiving evening as people who used Apple assistant Siri first noticed (probably during a discussion over dinner given the timing of mass reporting of the incident).
That evening a penis photo was shown to users who requested information about Donald Trump. That is a command going directly through Wikipedia. The photo disappeared, returned and disappeared again as behind the scenes there was an 'edit war' between several internet fraudsters and bona fide editors of Wikipedia.

"Three men joined the edit war while others always turned it back to the original photo," a Wiki editor explained. The account is temporarily protected but is now open again.
"If online vandalism starts again, we will have to protect the page for a longer time."
That was Thursday, and little reported on. But over the weekend, the attacks started again, and Wikipedia considers protecting Trump’s page for a longer time again.

Wikipedia normally offers two-factor protection for administrator accounts, but it was revealed that many of the compromised accounts (other pages featuring Trump also got attacked) did not have it in place. Most of the accounts featuring Trump had been left inactive for months, making it likely that they would have been vulnerable to conventional account takeover techniques. Four of the five accounts which intermittently feature a ‘penis picture’ instead of Trump’s picture have been indefinitely blocked from editing as a result of the attack.

So far, editors are dealing with the issue through close scrutiny of any new edits to the page, and a new focus on account security.
“I don’t know how many of these accounts the hacker has, but it’s a lot,” one administrator wrote on the page’s open edit forum. “I know it’s unusual/unheard of to lock an article like this, but if we have to, we have to.”

In 2016, I remember a mother going to the scene of a violent (BLM) riot upon hearing her young son was there. She promptly found him and took him home. Her actions had 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 to do with the #Dem or #Repub Parties–But everything to do with keeping her kid safe. I have the utmost respect for this mother and wish there were more like her. Too many kids getting hurt and killed due to their involvement in these kinds of tumultuous 'protests'. We need to teach kids love and respect–you may save their lives.
