EU Brexit Agreement - Farage: “I Hope Parliament Votes It Down And We Leave On WTO Rules”

UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit plan was accepted by the 27 member states of the European Union this morning, setting up the final step of getting it voted through the UK Parliament.

In response, Brexiteer and former UKIP leader Mr Nigel Farage explained his desire for the UK Parliament to vote it down and leave the EU under WTO rules. From the looks of it, he might just get his wish.

<b>38 minutes</b>

The 27 EU leaders and UK Prime Minister Theresa May gave their blessing on the divorce agreement and the agreement on the future relationship between the European Union and Great Britain after only a 38-minute meeting.

"The Brexit agreement is a necessary step to build trust between the EU and the UK after the Brexit," said EU negotiator Michel Barnier on Sunday just before the start of the extraordinary European summit. 'It is now time that everyone - everyone - takes up their responsibility.'

EU President Donald Tusk said on arrival that "nobody has reasons to be happy" if Brexit is a fact.

He then quoted Freddie Mercury, late singer of the British band Queen: 'Friends will be friends right till the end.'

French president Macron emphasized that “this is not a sad day, but also not a day to celebrate.”

“The British have chosen this for themselves. It does show that the European Union must reform.”

EU Commission President Juncker meanwhile warned the British: “Whoever thinks that a better deal is possible, is going to be disappointed.”

<b> Parliament</b>

The blessing of EU leaders probably has little impact on the growing likelihood that the British House of Commons may reject the deal.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">&#39;&#39;If I was a British citizen I would be deeply sad when imagining the life of my grandchildren&#39;&#39; <br><br>.<a href="https://twitter.com/JunckerEU?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@JunckerEU</a> was frank about his thoughts on <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Brexit?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Brexit</a>, despite saying that &#39;&#39;we have reached the best possible deal&#39;&#39; <br><br>Follow live EU summit updates here: <a href="https://t.co/utLEEDOltY">https://t.co/utLEEDOltY</a> <a href="https://t.co/pLhDJR7Hfb">pic.twitter.com/pLhDJR7Hfb</a></p>&mdash; Sky News (@SkyNews) <a href="https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1066674110217027584?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 25, 2018</a></blockquote>

Ms Theresa May is fully engaged trying to persuade the British public opinion that this deal is the best possible one for the UK.

On Friday, listeners of Radio 5 were allowed to ask her questions, on Sunday the Prime Minister sent an open letter to all UK citizens. Ms May hopes in this way to pressure the MPs to vote for the agreements. Yet she still does not seem to have a majority.
