The Democrats have mostly been silent as to the status of the 5,000 Central American migrants currently camped out in Tijuana, ready to apply for asylum in the US. From a strategic standpoint, this is because they know that the current White House administration has been proven right when it comes to predicting how the different caravans would act.
Firstly, the Mexican authorities in Tijuana have already arrested dozens of them for criminal activities and started deporting those.
Secondly, the Democrats cannot claim they are normal asylum seekers as Mexico offered them asylum already and they refused.
Thirdly, the narrative that it would take months for the caravans to show up on the border, multiplied in the liberal media the weeks before the Midterm elections, has been proven false as the last thousand miles was done by truck for most of them.

All that seems beyond the Democratic congresswoman-elect of Brooklyn, Ms Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who compared the ‘hardship’ of the Central Americans (who have stormed the border in an organized group of 500 in the past hours) to Jews fleeing Nazis in the second world war.
She tweeted: “Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America.”
Ms Ocasio-Cortez firstly omits the fact that Mexico offered the Central Americans asylum already and they refused and secondly, that there might be a small difference between Jews fleeing Germany and Central Americans fleeing Honduras.
Much like the European migrant crisis of 2015 when hundreds of thousands from Syria fled into Europe, the argument could be made that the Syrian people could have gone to any Middle Eastern country but chose not to, simply because there is a difference between a ‘war refugee’ and an ‘economic refugee.’
