A man who was teaching in a Bell County school district "accidentally" flashed a pornographic image on the in-class projector screen. 45-year-old James Edward Alleman of Temple was arrested on November 18 and charged with possession of child pornography, two months after resigning from his job as a computer science teacher at Belton High.
An arrest warrant affidavit revealed that when the image flashed on the screen, Alleman told the class, "That never should have happened." Investigators ended up finding pornography on Alleman's school-issued laptop, iPad, MicroSD, and external hard drive, according to the affidavit.

Four of the videos found on the SD card contained video of a 10-year-old girl in a bathroom. Investigators say at some parts of the video the young girl is not wearing any clothes. Belton police would not elaborate on the evidence against Alleman and would not say whether the girl was a student at Belton ISD at the time of the videos.
Todd Schiller, BISD assistant superintendent for human resources, issued a statement saying, "The safety and well-being of students is our highest priority. Upon learning of inappropriate use of technology by former Belton High School teacher James Alleman, he was immediately removed from the classroom, and Belton Police Department was notified."
Schiller added, "In compliance with Board policy, the Superintendent reported Mr. Alleman to the State Board for Educator Certification."

When investigators initially searched Alleman's devices on October 11, they found that he had searched for pornography in both Chinese and Japanese, using certain terms to search which tipped off officers that he may be in possession of child pornography. The search history was enough for officers to request a search warrant for the hard drive and SD card.
The search warrant was issued on November 6 and the search itself was carried out the following day. That is when the four short videos were found on the SD card. Police were able to locate someone who identified the young girl and said she was 10-years-old. The person also recognized where the videos were taken but they said they were not aware that a camera was set up in the bathroom.

Belton Police Department spokesman Paul Romer said, "In deference to the victim, the Belton Police Department will not release any additional information about the case. However, we will be prepared to testify about the facts of the case, if it goes to trial." Administrators at the high school informed parents of Alleman's students of his resignation but did not inform them that he was under investigation or the reason resigned.
The other parents in the school district were not informed of the incident, according to BISD spokeswoman Elizabeth Cox. "Anytime a teacher resigns during the school year, the campus informs students and parents of plans to provide continuity of instruction," Cox said. "The district does not share confidential personnel and student information."
The school district still has not informed parents or guardians of Alleman's arrest.
