CA - Burglar Trapped for 2 Days In Grimy Vent of Chinese Restaurant Rescued
First responders amazingly managed to rescue someone who got perilously trapped for about two days in a grimy vent at a vacant Chinese restaurant in San Lorenzo. How the man ended up there is another interesting story on its own. He is suspected of being a trespasser, and possibly a burglar. But of course, everyone needs to be rescued and the responders rose up to the challenge of fulfilling their duty no matter the circumstances.
Alameda County Sheriff’s officials said that the man, 29 years old, was seen filled with grease all over his body as he got stuck in the narrow passageway.
The rescuers and first responders were called after officials received a tip from a neighboring business that someone was yelling from the restaurants. Fire units were then dispatched to the scene of the incident.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene located along 700 blocks of Bockman Road found the man who informed them that he had been stuck in the duct system above the stove for two days running.
The man in trouble was freed in half an hour. He did not sustain any major injuries. He complained, however, of fatigue, body cramps, and pain in his extremities. He was immediately brought to a local hospital for further treatment.
The sheriff’s office said that while he was rescued, the man is not exactly scot-free from possible liability. They are still conducting a trespassing and vandalism probe.
The officials also said they consider the man very lucky that he was rescued that day because he would not have likely survived another day given the circumstances.
