FL - Man Tries To Trade Marijuana For Food At McDonald’s Drive-Thru

Driving under the influence, getting hungry and running out of cash are a sure recipe for disaster as one man in Port St. Lucie, Florida found out when he probably got so desperate to get food that he tried to trade marijuana for McDonald’s drive-thru food.

It might have been a “unique”, if not desperate, idea on the part of 23-year-old Anthony Gallagher, to score food from the popular fast food restaurant, but not only was his wild idea rejected, it also led to his arrest.

Police said the incident took place around 2 a.m. Sunday at the McDonald’s drive-thru at 3199 southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

Gallagher drove his four-door Pontiac car through the drive-thru lane and told the crew he wanted to exchange marijuana for food. Naturally, the McDonald’s worker attending to him outright rejected the offer, and Gallagher was forced to leave and drive away.

Police were informed about the incident, which proved to be a great idea since only a short while later, Gallagher tried to pull off the same stunt and dangled the same offer: his stash of marijuana for possibly some burgers and fries from the popular restaurant.

By the time Gallagher went through the drive-thru again, an officer had noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from Gallagher’s car.

The officers searched Gallagher’s car and found 11 grams of marijuana inside. After questioning, Gallagher admitted to the police that he tried to exchange marijuana for food at McDonald’s.

Gallagher ended up not getting food as he wanted, and having his stash of marijuana confiscated, and to top it all, he was charged with possession of marijuana of fewer than 20 grams and driving under the influence.

A bad ending to his day, indeed, and a penalty perhaps for not getting his priorities right, like having a supply of marijuana but apparently not enough cash for even some burgers and fries.
