An English bride lit up social media site Reddit when she asked whether she was a ‘bitch’ for asking people not to bring their kids to her wedding and evicting the only couple who didn’t obey by her rules.
Your wedding day is often not the most relaxed day in your life. That is probably an understatement of sorts. You (normally) get only one chance to organize such a party and for financial reasons that might be a good thing.
Especially the bride is often under stress and can in the worst case transform into a true ‘Bridezilla’. Whether this was the case here, or whether the bride was right, opinions differ.
The couple wanted a wedding without children and had let their invitees know by putting it explicitly on the invitations. The bride therefore was surprised seeing a couple show up with their baby and a toddler aged 3 to 4 years old. She did not know the couple well; rather, they were friends of the family.
"This couple I’m not very close with but the wife is a long-time family friend so I felt that I should invite her."
"To be clear, all of my invitations stated that there were to be no children at this wedding. But she and her husband showed up with their infant and toddler (who I think is like 3-4)."
During the wedding ceremony she let it slip, as she understandably had other things on her mind, but as soon as the reception started and she saw that the couple still didn’t send their kids home, she sent over her wedding planner to deal with the situation.
"I mean, everyone was drinking and loud and rowdy and a crying child and another little one running around was not part of the plan."
But in no time, an argument started between the couple with the kids and the wedding planner, and the bride had to intervene herself.
"I think they thought I came to rescue them because they started going on about how rude my event planner was."
"I explained that I had actually sent him over to discuss the children. I reiterated that the event was child-free and said that I had stated so clearly on my invitations."
In the end, the bride asked the couple and their kids to leave.
"Finally, I snapped and said that they just needed to go, which, thankfully they did without much more noise. Still, the whole scene was incredibly embarrassing which is exactly what I wanted to avoid."

"I really hate that my wedding day had to be somewhat marred by this incident. According to my mother, everyone was talking about it and I guess enjoying a little dramatic entertainment."
To her surprise however, most commenters on social media agreed that she was right to ask the couple to leave, saying it was her wedding day in the first place and she has a right to organize it the way she wants.

The invitation was clear and they violated wishes of the couple.
