LeBron James Mocks #MAGA, Maybe He Should Focus on Winning Again

NBA superstar LeBron James uses every opportunity he can to take a dig at President Donald Trump. James, of course, is a known supporter of Barack Obama and campaigned and voted for Hillary Clinton in last year’s election. James slammed Trump anew after violence erupted in Charlottesville on Saturday.

The star of the Cleveland Cavaliers tweeted: “It’s sad what’s going on in Charlottesville. Is this the direction our country is heading? Make America Great Again huh?! He said that.”

White nationalists and alt-right groups planned a large rally for freedom of speech in Charlottesville, Virginia but violence erupted when clashes broke out between the group and Antifa protesters that led to the death of three people and dozens another hurt.

The clashes broke out ahead of the “Unite the Right” rally Saturday morning, and authorities soon declared the gathering an unlawful assembly, breaking up the event before it can officially start.

President Trump has condemned the violence coming from “many sides.”

LeBron James has always been vocal about his opposition to Trump. He regards former President and fellow black Barack Obama as his “good friend”. He also campaigned for Hillary Clinton in last year’s presidential election, where his highly-favored bet lost to Trump in an upset win.

In December last year, James also created a controversy when he refused to stay in Trump SoHo hotel in lower Manhattan in New York when his team played the New York Knicks, even though the said hotel has a contract with the Cavaliers for the team’s accommodations. He opted to stay in another hotel and brought some of his teammates along.

Perhaps it was another statement against Trump, or that it was “beneath” him to stay in Trump’s hotel.

The President has been quick to condemn the violence that met the gathering and blamed all sides that are a party to the violence, after all, there can be no clashes if there are no warring, opposing forces. Why is LeBron James still making the issue to be about Trump? Did he order the violence?

While President Trump is busy making good on his promise to make America great again- a commitment that the so-called “king” of basketball is mocking, perhaps LeBron James should focus on his own team first, and mind his business. Because that business is not exactly enjoying rosy prospects right now. Aside from being dominated and almost being swept by the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 NBA Finals in June, the Cavaliers’ huge loss in the championship has also given birth to many other problems for the squad. The team is said to be in chaos, and one of its star players’ fate remains in the balance. Kylie Irving has expressed his desire to be traded, saying he is no longer interested to play alongside LeBron James.

Maybe LeBron James should work harder, play harder. After all, he is way behind the great Michael Jordan whom he compares himself with in terms of the number of championship rings.

Instead of poking fun at Make America Great Again, maybe LeBron James should focus on winning again.

Is there anyone more hated in the NBA than James?

Trump hasn't kept any promises, the only thing he's done is take credit for the work of others, anyway Trump's too busy working at his real mission, his 5th bankrupcy. After all bankrupting a country isn't quite the same as a business.
