Celebrity singer Usher is standing his ground and refuses to settle with the people suing him for allegedly exposing them to the herpes virus through claims they’ve had sexual contact with the performer. Sources close to Usher have revealed the R&B singer’s decision to entertainment site TMZ.
The same sources say there are no ongoing settlement talks and neither would Usher be interested in having future discussions on out of court negotiations. Usher would simply not pay his way out of the lawsuit and the ensuing scandals brought by the serious and potentially embarrassing claims.
As previously reported also by TMZ, 4 people- 3 women and a man- are suing Usher alleging they’ve had sexual contact with the popular singer and that he didn’t inform them the prior hand that he allegedly had genital herpes. The celebrity has never addressed the herpes allegations.
The sources say that while the settlement is not on the table at this point, it is not as clear whether his advisers or handlers may caution the singer about the cost and benefit analysis of a prolonged lawsuit in terms of money. In the end, the sources say Usher must determine which would eventually be more expensive- defending himself against the allegations or ending the lawsuit with an out of court settlement and simply walk away from all the troubles, both legal and emotional, that could come out from a potentially ugly trial.
The 38-year-old singer’s legal woes started last month when an unnamed woman filed a $10 million lawsuit against him alleging that the singer gave her herpes during unprotected sex. Another woman named Quantasia Sharpton emerged more recently and said the singer picked her up from the audience during one of his concerts and pulled her up the stage. She claimed that their encounter continued to his hotel room after the onstage performance where they had sexual contact, and alleged that he exposed her to the sexually transmitted herpes virus.
There are no clear signs yet whether Usher is interested in counter suing his accusers.
The American singer, songwriter, producer and actor has an estimated net worth of $180 million. Usher is known for such smash hits as “Yeah!” (2004), “Burn” (2004), “You Make Me Wanna” (1997), “OMG” (2010), “Caught Up” (2004), among many others.

So one in four people have herpes. You can't prove or say that someone gave you herpes. Unless you have been hermetically sealed in a plastic bag for your life. You could have got that shit anywhere. It is just bad luck if you get herpes.
