A 10-year-old boy did a courageous thing when he helped his mother, Ashly Moreau, deliver his baby brother and save his life. Jayden Fontenot of Sulpher, Louisiana became an unlikely hero when his mother discovered she was in labor. First, he ran to his grandmothers house to get help, his grandmother called police but could not leave her home to assist. When he came back to his mother's house next door, she was lying in a pool of her own blood.
She was bleeding out and the baby wasn't breathing. Fontenot's mother describes what he did next, "When he got to the bathroom, he just took a deep breath and said, 'ok, Mom, just tell me what I need to do.' He didn't look scared, he looked calm and brave and I said 'ok, I'm going to tell you what to do and we need to get your brother out as fast as possible because he's breached and he can't breathe.' " Jayden quickly ran into the families kitchen and retrieved a nasal aspirator to clear the fluid from his baby brother's nose.
He didn't waste any time and after clearing the newborn's nose, the baby finally started to breath. The EMS had arrived by this time and took Moreau and her new baby to the hospital. Both Jayden's mother and new baby brother are recovering well and doctors say without Jayden's help, the baby never would have started breathing and his mother would have likely bled out during the delivery.
