In Little Rock, Arkansas, Man Kills Two Children, Then Himself

In a shockingly grotesque display of a murder-suicide, Little Rock Police in Arkansas have confirmed that a man killed his two children then himself.

The tragic events occurred at a West Little Rock home on the 11000 block of Birchwood Drive, west of Interstate 430.

According to Little Rock Police Department Chief, Kenton Buckner, multiple officers were dispatched earlier this morning after an emergency 911 call to report a deceased child.

Upon arrival to the scene investigators learned that both children, ages 4 and 5 years old, were dead inside of the house.

Inside the home they also found a 39 year old man deceased from an apparent suicide who is believed to have killed the children, Buckner said

While no names have been released at this time Chief Buckner said law enforcement believes the man was either the children's father or had a fatherly type of relationship to the children but detectives cannot yet confirm the biological relationship.

When local media asked if there was any weapons found in the home or of there was a cause of death for the children, the Chief wouldn't allude to all of the evidence yet saying there was an ongoing investigation and that this was simply being treated as a double murder-suicide crime.

"We do not know that," the Chief said, adding that his officers have been called to the home multiple times in the past to investigate prior reports of domestic violence. "But we are unsure what events occurred that resulted in this."

Chief Buckner also said any cases involving the deaths of small children are incredibly difficult for investigators and the community to take in. “It's a horrific tragedy… That someone so young… So innocent could be lost,” Buckner said.

"When you have kids who are incapable of protecting themselves be the victim of something this heinous, it's very, very frustrating," he said.

Today's killings are the 44th and 4th respective homicides of the year in Little Rock, Arkansas, a community that's no stranger to murder.
