After an evening spent dining with President Trump at the White House, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi released a statement together saying that the president has agreed to a legislative solution for DACA. Along with the agreement to replace DACA, President Trump agreed to more border security funding and the biggest issue, no funding for the wall between US and Mexico. Some say if the statement from the pair is true, the president risks revolt from within his own base since most of his supporters voted for him because of his hard line immigration policies.

More people should consider that compromises must be made in politics and there is no such thing as getting your way 100% of the time. Trump is facing immense levels of scrutiny, perhaps the most any president every has, and is still doing a good job so far in the short amount of time since he took office. It is still not confirmed by the White House whether Schumer and Pelosi's statement is true, after the dinner the White House released their own statement and made no mention of the deal. After the statement the pair, Sarah Sanders made her own statement saying, "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to." A spokesperson for Schumer, Matt House, said: "The President made clear he would continue pushing the wall, just not as part of this agreement."
A source close to the President commented on the issue of the wall between Mexico, "Part of Donald Trump's communications genius is that he understands the power of grand symbols. He wanted the country to know he wasn't standing for bad deals anymore, so he renegotiated the contracts for Air Force One and the F-35. People got it. He wanted the country to know he was bringing companies back, so he personally got on the phone with Carrier in Indiana. People got it. There's no bigger symbol than the wall. It's bigger than immigration, it represents his entire presidency. Whether he builds it or not will determine whether the country views him as a success or failure, and likely whether he's a one-term or two-term president."
