A Massachusetts man has been arrested by Lakeville Police for the killing of his neighbor's golden retriever and charged with malicious killing and injury of a domesticated animal. Lakeville Police say 61-year-old Mark J. Vasseur shot and killed Krissy Dashner's beloved golden retriever puppy after it escaped from her backyard in Plymouth County Sunday.

Dashner posted on Facebook about the killing saying that someone shot her dog named Walle and claimed he "looked aggressive" as the justification for the shooting. The dog was only 1-years-old at the time of the shooting. The man who shot the dog has only been identified as Mark but did defend himself to reporters Monday saying he shot Walle for attacking his chicken coop.
Mark says he does not regret shooting the animal and he had his gun handy because he is often dealing with troublesome coyotes and other predators trying to eat his chickens. He went on to say the dog barred his teeth and "just attacked" leaving him with no choice but to shoot. Mark added, "There was nothing I could do."
