The LVMPD gave the latest information related to the Las Vegas Shooting in a press conference today. During the briefing, Sheriff Joe Lombardo broke down in tears as he mentioned some officers who were injured during the attack. Sheriff Joe says Brady Cook was an officer who responded to the scene of the Las Vegas shooting where he sustained four separate gunshot wounds. The sheriff described the injuries as not the result of four separate bullets, rather four different entry and exit wounds from the same bullet.

The sheriff points out that the suspect was firing on the crowd when officers began to arrive, that is when he shifted his focus to firing at the police vehicles. That is when Cook received a substantial shoulder wound when a bullet went through his bicep, into his chest and out of his back. Sheriff Lombardo broke down in tears as he described how Cook asked him if he could return to work today. The shooting occurred during Cook's second day on the job. The 22-year-old officer told a local newspaper, "This is what I signed up for. I would do it all again in a heartbeat."
Another officer Sheriff Lombardo mentioned by name for his heroic actions is Samuel Whitworth. Officer Whitworth sustained a broken leg while helping victim's escape the violence but despite this he remained on scene to provide security for medical personnel. The sheriff ended the press conference by saying, "I want to thank you for letting me be your sheriff, and Vegas strong."
