It’s unbelievable the lengths some people would go through to express their hatred for President Donald Trump. One is even wise enough to try to profit from such antagonism against the Republican leader. The novelty comes with the idea of putting up a new hotel in Washington, D.C. to be marketed as essentially an anti-Trump hotel, to be located only a few blocks away from Trump International Hotel.
The hotel will be named Eaton Workshop and promises to be a “haven” for liberals feeling marginalized by the current occupant of the White House. It is targeting a spring opening next year, 2018. This early it is being marketed as “the world’s first politically motivated hotel.”
The hotel’s founder Katherine Lo said that even a liberal philosophy will be woven into the guests’ experience at the hotel.
The hotel promises to offer a writer’s residency, accommodating investigative reporters to stay on site for months while tracking down big stories, and a co-working space for progressive start-ups, activists, and artists.
There is also a plan to place TVs in the lobby of the hotel that will be in throwback mode, showing footage from the presidential elections in 2012 and 2016. The founder, after all, did not talk about moving on from last year’s humiliating defeat for liberals, with the loss of their poster girl, Hillary Clinton to then first-time presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Lo talked about their other plans. She said: “The goal isn’t to bring together left and right. We wanted to emphasize that it’s a place for people who are thinking outside the box and want to effect a change in the world.”
The founder also talked about adding new ideas in the minibar like an activist toolkit, for example, that includes sheets with information to help call congresspeople.
Lo even said that if only they were already open earlier this year for the Women’s March, then they could have put poster boards and markers in the room.
Here’s an unsolicited marketing tip to Lo as well. Maybe she should offer free rooms for the hotel inauguration to some Hollywood stars who are all professed anti-Trump and other celebrities like NBA superstar LeBron James who refused to stay in a Trump Hotel even though there were prior arrangements made. Wouldn’t that make for a savvy endorsement by those stars and another anti-Trump statement?
How’s that for moving the country forward and achieving unity? Apparently, those are not the goals of politically-correct liberals who want a hotel of their own, for their own.
