I bet you can agree with me that only a coward would murder their own partner and mascaraed like a victim. It happened in Park City where Anthony Darnel McClanahan was spotted by a Park City police sergeant as he was crawling on his stomach.
The creepy occurrence is extensively highlighted by court papers which indicate that McClanahan raised himself long enough to flag down the sergeant. The papers, which were filed Monday, go on to say, McClanahan laid on his stomach again and began convulsing, as he made snow angel motions as described by the police.
McClanahan told police that he, his wife, the 28-year-old Keri Colleen “KC” McClanahan, and “his baby” were attacked by two or three men. Officers eventually found his wife’s body “unresponsive and covered in blood.”
The prosecutors are of the opinion that McClanahan, 46, was the real attacker. Consequently, the Summit County Attorney’s Office charged Anthony McClanahan with first-degree felony murder, a charge that carries the possibility of life imprisonment, on Monday. He remained in the Salt Lake County jail on Monday from where he’s being held without bail as he awaits trial in another child kidnapping case.
A background check on McClanahan reveals that he was signed and then cut by the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s. However, there’s no record of him paying within an NFL game.
A dramatic yet strange scene was described by the charging documents as of early Nov. 2 at the condominium complex at 1710 Prospector Ave. One of the residents in the complex called police at 1:27 a.m. to say someone was crawling on his stomach through the corridors. The police sergeant happened to be driving by on patrol and spotted the former athlete three minutes later.
Surprisingly, Anthony McClanahan claimed that his family had been attacked, yet he did not give the sergeant his wife’s name or location, “even when asked multiple times,” the document indicates.
The police officers conducted a lengthy search in the complex and they managed to find the condo with its door ajar and blood on the floor and door.
The documents reveal that Anthony McClanahan was bleeding and had lacerations on his face, neck, wrist, arms, and torso, documents say, and his bare feet had blood on them. Investigators also managed to find a paracord bracelet knife on the floor near KC McClanahan’s hands.
According to a witness who resides from a different state, she had a conversation with Anthony McClanahan minutes before 10 p.m. Nov. 1, she told police. All this time she thought KC McClanahan had been texting her husband. She also remembers hearing Anthony McClanahan confront his wife, she said.
The contradictory thing about his account is that no one matches the description of Anthony McClanahan’s alleged attackers appears on security footage from the entrance to the complex, documents say, and police said the keycard system for the McClanahan’s unit hadn’t been accessed
