Breaking news coming out of Washington, DC that's going to rock the entire nation, the Middle East, and send shockwaves across the planet today after President Trump has called Palestinian President Abbas to tell him the United States of America is moving the US Embassy to Israel into Jerusalem.
The hotly contested city of Jerusalem has for centuries been the cause of Middle Eastern conflicts, and Israel has continued to claim the controversial Holy Land as its rightful owner.
Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President has threatened there will be “serious repercussions” for the decision made by the United States of America to intervene on behalf of Israel, and this may be the move that shakes the foundation of the Wailing Wall itself as Islamic nations will quickly rise to the defense of Palestine in this battle for ownership.
"President Mahmoud Abbas received a telephone call from U.S. President Donald Trump in which he notified the President (Abbas) of his intention to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem," spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah said in a statement.
“President Abbas warned of the dangerous consequences such a decision would have to the peace process and to the peace, security, and stability of the region and of the world,” Nabil Abu Rudeina, the Palestinian president's spokesperson, said.
Jerusalem's status as an unrecognizable city is an extremely sensitive aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Israel claims the city as its capital, following the occupation of East Jerusalem in the 1967 war with Syria, Egypt and Jordan, and considers Jerusalem to be a "united" city.
Palestinians have long seen East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.
They say that a US move to relocate the embassy would prejudge one of the most sensitive issues in the conflict, the status of Jerusalem, and undermine Washington's status as an honest mediator.
No country currently has its embassy in Jerusalem, and the international community, including the US, does not recognise Israel's jurisdiction over and ownership of the city.
Arab and Muslim leaders have consistently “warned” President Donald Trump that he risks inflaming the Middle East and jeopardizing regional relations if he recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city, something that may lead to a future war.
Recept Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey joined those same regional Islamic leaders on Tuesday in declaring the status of Jerusalem was a red line for the Muslim world, according to the Financial Times.
Turkey, a NATO member, is one of the few countries in the region that has what's consisted as an open diplomatic relationship with Israel.
Erdogan said any plans to recognize Jerusalem “could even go as far as us cutting ties with Israel”.
“I am warning the United States not to take such a step which will deepen the problems in the region,” President Erdogan told members of his ruling Justice and Development party.
We now must watch as the entire Muslim world threatens Biblical scale warfare over this action, to most likely, turn into a potential global conflict.
President Trump, however, has stated his intention, and his willingness to stand alongside Israel.
