US President Donald Trump lashed out at Democratic California Governor Jerry Brown who yesterday declared he would refuse the White House’s demand to deploy the national guard at the border. Meanwhile, the Republican governors of Arizona, New Mexico and Texas have all declared they would comply with Mr Trump's National Guard demand, and have moved quickly to deploy troops.
Governor Brown however stated he would not permit soldiers to fully engage in immigration enforcement on the border, meaning a big drawback for the President’s plan to have military presence at the Mexican boundary whilst his administration awaits construction of his long-promised wall.

Mr Trump said on Twitter that: “Looks like Jerry Brown and California are not looking for safety and security along their very porous Border. He cannot come to terms for the National Guard to patrol and protect the Border. The high crime rate will only get higher. Much wanted Wall in San Diego already started.”

The US President’s reaction comes after Mr Ronald Vitiello, the US Customs and Border Protection's acting deputy commissioner, stated on Monday that: "The governor determined that what we asked for is unsupportable.”

Last week already Governor Brown declared that California troops would certainly help to go after drugs, guns and criminal gangs, but not immigrants.

Mr Vitiello: "We are anticipating additional requirements, and we got a signal from California that they are interested in improving border security."
"So, at some point that might come together."
