As a follow-up to this weekend’s second presidential debate that took place between the four leading candidates, Fox presenter Tucker Carlson claimed that Mexico had now become a “foreign hostile power” as all candidates said, “they would assist central Americans traveling to the US illegally through Mexico.”

During a debate with a Mexican-American journalist, Univision's Mr. Enrique Acevedo, Tucker claimed that those statements could be interpreted as “an act of hostility aimed at our national interests.”

"Why should we not consider Mexico an enemy?" Tucker asked.

Mr. Acevedo retorted that presidential candidates often "say a lot while campaigning" but he doesn’t expect them to follow through on it, before adding: “Since Trump became President he has arrested over 200,000 immigrants, and still he insists that Mexico is not doing anything to help the US.”

The other candidates include conservative Ricardo Anaya (who is part of the current government), Jose Antonio Meade and Jaime "El Bronco" Rodriguez, who launched his campaign as an independent and is keen on running on spectacular proposals (during the first presidential debate he stated that thieves should have their hands chopped off for example).
