A few weeks ago we told you that the Russian field of candidates for the Presidential election was getting a bit more crowded, <a href="https://thegoldwater.com/news/9944-Russia-Presidential-Elections-2018-Meet-Putin-s-Opponent-Ksenia-Sobchak /"> with the announcement of Miss Ksenia Sobchak</a> that she would run as well.
The two main protagonists in the election will probably be current President Vladimir Putin and the main opposition candidate Alexei Navalny (though some are doubting whether the Kremlin will actually let him run at all).
On the other side of the election spectrum an, let’s say interesting, a field of candidates is developing.
After former reality TV star Miss Ksenia Sobchak, it is now the turn of Miss Elena Berkova, a porn star who is well known to the male electorate for previously running for mayor of Sochi (unsuccessfully though).
Her sweeping reform plans for the Russian nation include : installing the death penalty for sexual harassment, banning of divorce for men (Russia has one of the highest divorce rates in the world), installing sex education in schools (with a mandatory sex exam) and making it an offence for women to wear skirts longer than 40cm.
Ms. Berkova explained her candidacy on social media: 'I made this decision recently because women are actively taking part in the presidential campaign.
“Some of them are from show business, I ran for mayor of Sochi and took have taken part in politics, so I decided to run for the President of Russia.”
“I plan to make divorces almost impossible for men, as these days women bear almost all the responsibility for children. I plan to introduce sexual and legal education in schools. And to introduce a mandatory sex exam. Often our youth still do not know about sexual legal norms, hygiene, not to mention pleasure.”
This all should make for a very interesting first presidential debate.
