Take a good look, that's the mugshot of a person willing to lie about rape and put an innocent man in jail. This Tuscaloosa woman was arrested Saturday for telling police a false rape story about her ex-boyfriend.
25-year-old Mariah Jordan Smith called police to report that her ex-boyfriend entered her house through an unlocked door, went into her room and raped her. Tuscaloosa police responded to her home at the 1500 block of Greystone Drive around 5 p.m. where she told them that after he raped her he tied her feet to the bed, then her hands. Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Capt. Gary Hood said they determined some of the statements she gave were false causing them to question the rest of her story.
Investigators contacted the ex-boyfriend who was out of state the whole time the rape supposedly occurred. Smith was consequently arrested for filing a false report and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail where she remains on $6,000 bond.
