A meth addict in Ohio was arrested Sunday for attacking his girlfriend with a machete while the pair was driving along Interstate 76.
Daniel Ryan Taylor, 32, has been jailed at the Westmoreland County jail in Pennsylvania and is facing charges of aggravated assault and making terrorist threats with intent to terrorize another.
According to a Pennsylvania State Patrol report, Taylor struck his girlfriend with a machete while driving a gray Chevy Impala on I-76. The couple was returning to Dayton from a trip to Baltimore at the time of the attack.
The victim told police Taylor had been awake for the past 12 days straight and he was high on methamphetamine. She also told investigators he was acting paranoid and delusional.
Taylor attacked the victim when she went into the back seat of the car and refused to get back in the front seat, according to Magisterial District Courts document. The victim received cuts to her left hand and bruising on her right cheek as a result of the assault.
During the investigation, Taylor told police his girlfriend was the one who was high on meth and she was acting paranoid and delusional. He says it was her irrational behavior that led to her injuring herself while in the front seat of the car, according to court documents.
When the state patrol investigators inspected the Impala, they found a large pool of blood in the rear seat behind the driver's seat and blood on the inside of the rear driver's side door.
Taylor is set to appear in a preliminary hearing on February 9.
