Camas Police Department responded to an unusual call after a jealous girlfriend stabbed her boyfriend leaving him critically injured. They responded to a domestic disturbance call at 1:54 a.m. Saturday at 2013 N.E. Garfield St. in the residential neighborhood near Helen Baller Elementary School.
In a press release, Camas Police said, "The 911 caller, identified as 30-year-old Emily Javier, reported that she had just stabbed her boyfriend with a sword and thought he was dead." When they arrived at the scene, Javier walked out of the house and surrendered with her hands up.
She was taken into custody in the front yard without incident but when police went inside the home they found Javier's boyfriend of two years critically injured by a samurai sword. 29-year-old Alex Lovell was found inside their shared home with several life-threatening injuries.
Camas-Washougal Fire Department provided aid to Lovell until he was transported to a hospital where remained in critical condition Saturday. Detectives secured a search warrant for the home and seized a samurai sword and several knives. Javier is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder.
"Police believe Javier’s attack was motivated by jealousy," according to the press release. Camas police along with help from the Regional Major Crimes Team are investigating the attack.
