US President Donald Trump continued proclaiming his plan for tariffs on aluminum and steel today when he took aim at the North American Trade Agreement partners Mexico and Canada.
Mr. Trump stated: “We have large trade deficits with Mexico and Canada. NAFTA, which is under renegotiation right now, has been a bad deal for the U.S.A. Massive relocation of companies & jobs. Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum will only come off if new & fair NAFTA agreement is signed. Also, Canada must treat our farmers much better. Highly restrictive. Mexico must do much more on stopping drugs from pouring into the U.S. They have not done what needs to be done. Millions of people addicted and dying.”

Speaking at the White House later today, Mr. Trump once again repeated his remarks “No, we’re not backing down.”
“We had a very bad deal with Mexico, we had a very bad deal with Canada. It’s called NAFTA.”
Trump's remarks against Mexico and Canada come only two days after he stated that if Europe wanted to play rough (the EU Commission President Mr. Juncker had threatened to tax blue jeans and bourbon in a comedic attempt to rebuff Mr. Trump’s threat for a steel tariff) he would levy import taxes on German cars.
