Shock Video - Chinese Bus Burns As Passengers Flee

A bus caught fire and exploded on a downtown street in northern China. Fortunately, more than 50 of its passengers managed to escape just in the nick of time. The blaze, however, still left at least three passengers injured from the chaos that ensued as everyone made a mad scramble to the vehicle’s exit door.

Panic-stricken passengers desperately attempted to kick the door open in vain as flames spread from the underside of the vehicle to the middle of the passenger compartment. Thankfully, a middle-aged passenger identified as Liu Dahai, who also happened to be a bus driver, managed to yank open the door with his hands.

There were more than 50 people onboard the bus when the incident happened. The vehicle was making a right turn at a crossroads in downtown Harbin when its left rear tire blew out. A fire broke out afterward underneath the vehicle.

A video clip of the incident showed passengers tripping and falling in the dash to get to the door and escape the blaze. Explosions could be heard in the video as clouds of black smoke also rose from the burning vehicle.

The driver with the help of workers from nearby shops used fire extinguishers in an attempt to put out the fire, but it was already too big to control.

Two women and a man sustained injuries from the fire as they suffered from burns to their hands and hair in the incident.

By the time firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire, the bus has become almost unrecognizable, having been reduced to a near-skeleton of charred metal. The rear engine of the bus was severely damaged.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of its damage. The bus is, of course, in all likelihood, made in China.
