ISIS Pulse Nightclub Attack Trial: Father Of Terrorist Was FBI Informant

Another startling revelation in the Ms. Noor Salman trial yesterday when the accused’s lawyers claimed that Ms. Salman’s case should be ruled a mistrial as they found that Mr. Mateen’s father worked as an FBI informant for 9 years.

Lawyers for Ms Salman said that because federal prosecutors didn’t disclose the information that Mr. Mateen’s father, Seddique Mateen, worked as FBI informant until halfway through the case, her Fifth Amendment right to due process and Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial were therefore denied, an argument which the judge did not adhere.

The judge stated that: “This trial is not about Seddique Mateen. It’s about Noor Salman.”

As a reminder, Ms. Salman stands accused of helping her husband plan his June 2016 mass shooting at the gay nightclub in Orlando, where he killed 49 people.

US Attorney Ms. Sara Sweeney sent an email over the weekend to Ms. Salman’s attorneys, revealing details of the FBI’s involvement with Mr. Seddique Mateen’s activities leading up to the Pulse attack: “I have just received authorization to disclose the following information about Seddique Mateen”

“Seddique Mateen was a FBI confidential human source at various points in time between January 2005 and June 2016.”

Ms. Salman’s lawyers argued therefore that the government’s “violations in this case have placed Ms. Salman, the jury, and this Court in a dark wood where the search for truth has been thwarted.”
