A father of four died in front of his own children in France when a fairground attraction ride broke down while 4 others were sent to hospital with serious injuries. Police is investigating the ordeal.
The events took place in the small town of Neuville-sur-Saone, near Lyon and costed the life of a father of 40 years old.

The initial technical investigation indicates that the central cylinder of the ride failed and the decorative elements collapsed when the father and two of his children were in a basket.
The public prosecutor of Lyon has appointed a legal expert (specialized in investigating metal structures) to rule on the possible deficiency of the fairground.

The operator of the ride has been arrested for negligence and will be brought to the courthouse in Lyon on Tuesday (Monday is an Easter holiday in most of Western Europe).

Mr Laurent Buffard, deputy mayor of the town admitted that: ‘the carousel fell suddenly and hit the ground hard.’

According to French newspaper Le Parisien, the expert is bound to find serious negligence on behalf of the carrousel operator.
