Thailand - Tranny Shows Up at Military Draft Day for Mere “Photo Ops”

A Thai transgender has become the toast of their country’s social media when she appeared on draft day and stole the “show.”

Thai law now requires that all male citizens, including so-called transwomen, who have turned 21 starting last year to report to their local military draft unit. So Issaree “Natt” Mungman, a trans pageant winner, has no choice but to show up at the Kho Panom District unit in her hometown in Krabi province yesterday.

Thai men must “volunteer” to serve for six months to two years, depending on the level of education they have acquired, or take their chances in a “lottery.”

Transgender people are actually exempted from the draft. The law exempts them from serving, but they still have to show up and report for the draft.

The transgender even proudly posted photos of herself at the draft unit on Facebook and wrote: “Fulfilling Thai men’s duty.” She also said added: “Thanks to all the soldiers. I’ve been treated very well. Everything went fine.”

Natt was the winner of Miss Trans Universe Thailand 2018, a trans pageant contest held at a mall in Bangkok.

Thailand is a known tourist destination in Southeast Asia, popular not only for shopping, eating and natural tourists spots as beautiful beaches, but also enjoys a robust medical tourism, with plastic surgery and other physical enhancement or transformation procedures also an open and vibrant trade in the country. Many, especially across the region, troop to Thailand to get such procedures, at comparatively lower prices.

Thailand is also known for its transgender people, and considered by many as a so-called “paradise for transgender.”

Natt showing up at the draft day, however, practically turned out to be just that- a show, or on her part, a photo opportunity, which essentially amount to nothing significant for the country’s defense goals and aspirations.
