UFC superstar Conor McGregor landed himself in some hot water late Thursday night after he attacked a rival at a UFC press conference. NYPD sought the MMA star on suspicion of assault and criminal mischief after he injured another fighter in a rampage at Barclays Center. Accompanied by his lawyer, McGregor turned himself into the 78th Pct. station house Thursday night.

The Irish UFC champion and his team showed up to the Barclays Center arena following a press conference for an upcoming fight between UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov and Max Holloway. McGregor flew into a rage and began trashing his opponent's bus when he could not reach him, but it was another fighter named Michael Chiesa who was injured after McGregor threw a hand truck through the window of the bus.

Chiesa's coach Rick Little said in an interview with MMAJunkie, "Conor went bananas and put a beating on the van that we were in looking for Khabib. A million security guards had to restrain him. Mike’s cut up now. He’s got marks on him, for sure. I don’t think too serious. Everything happened so fast, it was just like we got jumped." Reports from other fighters like Nate Diaz say Nurmagomedov and his team were bullying another fighter which infuriated McGregor.

After the rampage, McGregor and his team got into a waiting SUV and fled the scene. The FDNY transported one victim with a head wound from the scene to Methodist Hospital at 1:39 p.m. The outburst came just one day after UFC head Dana White announced he was stripping Conor McGregor of his lightweight championship belt and awarding it to the winner of the fight between Nurmagomedov and Holloway.
Dana White commented on the altercation between Conor and Khabib's team calling it "disgusting". White said, "After this disgusting, despicable move, I think everybody’s relationship with Conor’s gonna be not so great." Nurmagomedov also had something to say about the assault. "I am laughing inside," Nurmagomedov said. "You broke window? Why? Come inside. You know UFC don't let you come inside. If you real gangster why don’t you come inside?"
