"Smallville" Actress Allison Mack Indicted For Sex Trafficking

An actress from Smallville has been arrested for her role in the now infamous sex-slave cult NXIVM. Federal prosecutors say, Allison Mack, 35, was a "slave" to the cult's leader, Keith Raniere, but to other girls, Mack was a "master". The arrest comes just weeks after the cult's deranged leader Raniere was arrested on the same charges at his luxury villa in Mexico.

Mack was implicated along with her costar from Smallville actress Kristin Kreuk who has not yet been brought up on formal charges. The 35-year-old is expected to appear Friday in Brooklyn federal court on charges of sex trafficking and forced labor. The bizarre sex cult disguised as a self-help group targeted woman and forced them to become slaves by coercing them into giving compromising photographs or statements that could be used against them.

Part of the slaves' treatment involved being branded with the cult leader's initials using a cauterizing pen. If you turn Keith Raneire's initials sideways, they also spell Allison Mack's initials which some say is indicative of her influential role within the cult. Court documents accuse Mack of grooming the slaves for sex with Raniere by ordering them to stick to extremely restrictive diets, not removing their pubic hair, and staying celibate.

Mack also allegedly forced the slaves to pose naked for photos "including on one occasion close-up pictures of their vaginas". The photos would then be used as collateral, according to the court documents. Mack along with other slave masters allegedly made the women participate in "readiness" drills which required them to respond to requests 24 hours a day leading the slaves being "seriously sleep-deprived." One of the slaves became so thin and ill she stopped getting periods.

One woman named Sarah Edmondson described being lured into the group by its positive exterior, but she was later branded like the others and eventually escaped. The last time Mack was seen prior to her arrest she was chasing after Raniere as police led him away in Mexico. The charges both Mack and Raniere face could see them behind bars for 15 years to life if found guilty.
