An Air India flight experienced severe turbulence for 12 minutes Thursday injuring three people and causing a window panel to fall off mid-flight. Oxygen masks deployed from the overhead panel during the flight causing some panic but the deployment was accidental and due to the turbulence.

The Amristar-Delhi flight is about 35 minutes long and was packed with over 240 passengers on April 19. An airline official said one of the injured passengers was not wearing their seat belt and struck his head against the luggage compartment when the turbulence struck.

A video taken aboard the flight shows the turbulence and an air hostess on-board Boeing 787 Dreamliner (VTANI) to hold a window pane in place that had fallen off.

The three injured passengers were treated by the aircraft's emergency response team upon landing and then taken to an area hospital. A probe has been initiated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation but Air India has not commented on the situation so far.
