The Alpharetta police department has released a 20-minute long video of the 143MpH police chase this Saturday which resulted in a police officer being hospitalized as a result. The suspect, 49-year-old Mr John Bollin, raced along residential streets for 20 minutes whilst being chased by Police officer Mr Dustin Bak (who is currently recovering from his injuries and is expected to return to duty soon).
At the beginning of the full video (we have posted both the long and the short version), you can see Mr Bolling’s car being clocked at 100mph by the police officer using his radar. The white Mercedes 300 then stays next to the officer and swerves around him, eventually slowing down to 65mph.
Police office Bak flashes his lights in an attempt to have the driver pull over to the side of the road but instead Mr Bollin decides to hit the gas pedal and go for a speed chase.

At specific intervals in the video, you can see that Stop Sticks spikes were being deployed by fellow officers across the road at some locations trying to puncture the tires of Mr Bolling’s car which he managed to swerve. At one point the speeding Mercedes even performs a U-turn in an attempt to lose the police vehicle, but Mr Bak stays on his tail.

In the end, Mr Bollin was charged with DUI and various other offences including charges of felony fleeing and eluding, speeding (he drove the car at 143 in a 65 mph zone), DUI less safe, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal/changing lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to obey traffic control devices and driving while unlicensed.
Mr Howard Miller with the Alpharetta Police Department stated: “That could have been some of his motive for running, and also because he was intoxicated and just didn't want to get caught.”
