Kanye West: “Obama Was In Office For Eight Years And Nothing In Chicago Changed.”

The Twitter rants of rapper Kanye West are well known. Though I was personally a fan of his ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ dating back to 2010, and certainly the long-lasting ‘Runaway’, I was not that much a listener of his earlier work, and during his twitter storm rants, he mostly loses my attention as well.

But last night was different indeed. Not only did Mr. West dare to go against the MSM and declare his fandom for Mr. Trump, he also highlighted one of the reasons why when he stated that: “Obama Was In Office For Eight Years And Nothing In Chicago Changed.”

Both former President Barack Obama and Mr. West hail from Chicago, known as the US’s most violent city and described by current President Trump as a ‘war zone’.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">You don&#39;t have to agree with trump but the mob can&#39;t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don&#39;t agree with everything anyone does. That&#39;s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.</p>&mdash; KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/989179757651574784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 25, 2018</a></blockquote>

Mr. West, whose tweet declaring his fandom of US President Trump was re-tweeted by POTUS himself with a thank you note included, has a long history of spats with the former Democratic US President.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Okay. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Yeezy?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Yeezy</a> was piquing my interest the past few days, but now he’s dazzling me… <a href="https://twitter.com/kanyewest?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@kanyewest</a> <a href="https://t.co/qvjyWGRyFp">https://t.co/qvjyWGRyFp</a></p>&mdash; James Woods (@RealJamesWoods) <a href="https://twitter.com/RealJamesWoods/status/989298328444715008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 26, 2018</a></blockquote>

Back in 2009, when Kanye stormed the scene at the MTV Awards and stole the mike from Taylor Swift to declare his devotion to Beyonce’s album, then President Obama was asked about the moment and didn’t hesitate to call the rapper a “Jackass” for doing such a thing.

Mr. Obama stated: ‘The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person, she’s getting her award…. He’s a jackass’. Even though the then President asked that the shot is cut from the videotape, it quickly spread on the internet and an international spat between two African-American superstars of the US started.

Later, in 2012, the President doubled down on his comments, when asked whether he prefers Kanye or Jay-Z: "Jay-Z. Although I like Kanye. He's a Chicago guy. Smart. He's very talented."

The reporter at the time then asks: "Even though you called him a jackass?"

Obama's response: "He is a jackass. But he's talented."

Fast forward six years later, and it would seem to us Mr. West had finally responded.
