Brazil - Armed Gunman Thought It Would Be Easy Robbing Sao Paolo Mothers At School Gate (Video)

A Brazilian 21-year-old had taken up the plan to rob a mother-daughter event this Saturday at a local school in Sao Paolo.

It all seemed to go well until 42-year-old Military Policewoman Katia da Silva Sastre, who was standing in line with her 7-year-old daughter, took out her own gun and shot the man three times.

Security camera footage shows how young Mr Elivelton Neves Moreira announces he’s robbing everyone and points a .38 revolver at the mothers waiting outside the Ferreira Master school. This is when Ms Katia da Silva Sastre drew her own weapon and fired three times at the gunman. The young man falls to the ground after which Ms da Silva Sastre takes his gun as well.

On Sunday, officer Sastre was commended for her heroism by the Governor of Sao Paolo in a televised event.

Ms Sastre: “I didn’t know if he was going to shoot the kids or the mothers or the security guard at the school door. I just thought about defending the mums, the children, my own life and my daughter’s.”

“I had to act quickly to end his aggression and prevent him from harming anyone. I reverted to the training I have received in the corporation. It’s gratifying to have been in the right place to have saved all our lives.”

The policewoman and mother of two was being recognized on social media countrywide for her bravery and heroism.

Sao Paulo’s Governor Márcio França: “She went to the party to celebrate the date and a situation like this happened. She acted so precisely, so perfectly, that we decided to honor her. It is a warning to those who take up a gun that they could be killed because our security professionals are well trained to protect the public.”
