A woman from Texas who was arrested for drunk driving then, later on, accused the state trooper who made the arrest of sexual assault could end up being charged for another offense: making a false accusation against a member of the law enforcement.
37-year-old Sherita Dixon-Cole of Grapevine, Texas, was stopped early Sunday morning while she was driving her white Chevrolet Malibu by Texas Department of Public Safety officer Daniel Hubbard. Hubbard said in an affidavit that the woman’s driving was “erratic and unsafe for the roadway” and that it took “several miles” to pull over the vehicle.
Hubbard said he followed the protocol and administered multiple field sobriety tests on Dixon-Cole. He also saw in her car what appeared to be vodka in two open containers in the backseat, as well as a cup in the driver’s seat of Dixon-Cole’s car.
The Texas state trooper then arrested Dixon-Cole for driving while intoxicated. She was brought to Ellis County Jail in Waxahachie, Texas.
The next day, Dixon-Cole had dropped an explosive allegation against Hubbard. Dallas-based civil rights attorney Lee Merritt released a statement where Dixon-Cole claimed that Hubbard told her multiple times that she could be released in exchange for sexual favors.
Dixon-Cole further claimed that when she rejected the indecent proposal, she alleged that the highway patrol trooper sexually assaulted her outside and inside his police cruiser during the prolonged arrest.
Dixon-Cole’s claims were picked up by multiple news outlets and widely shared on social media. She was also released from jail on Sunday night after her family posted the required bond.
Hubbard was wildly attacked on social media, with Democrats and liberals jumping on the bandwagon and connecting Hubbard’s supposed guilt with other issues against cops, especially the alleged abuses against people of color.

Following Dixon-Cole’s claims, the Texas Department of Public Safety said it swiftly checked footage from the trooper’s dashboard and body cameras. They then gave the videos to the Ellis County and District Attorney’s Office for review.
Then on Tuesday, they released close to two hours of video captured by the body camera of Hubbard that showed opposite of what Dixon-Cole claimed.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is not taking lightly what they are certain are nothing but false allegations made by Dixon-Cole against Hubbard. They said in a statement: “The department is appalled that anyone would make such a despicable, slanderous and false accusation against a peace officer who willingly risks his life every day to protect and serve the public.”
Many in social media quickly acknowledged the strong evidence that the officer earlier vilified especially liberals is innocent, after all. Some offered apologies, too, to Hubbard.

While the department has not confirmed yet, it is likely that they will file charges against Dixon-Cole.

Her punishment should equal what that officer would have gotten if he had not had that body cam.
