Canada – Trudeau Buys Oil Pipeline For $4.5 Billion

The liberal government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau angered just about anyone that used to be a fan of his when deciding to nationalize the Trans Mountain pipeline for an amount of $4.5 billion, with environmental groups and the Indigenous leaders whose land this affects being the greatest protesters of all.

Want to read how Kinder Morgan fleeced Canadians? Here it is. Reminder: they bought the pipeline for $550 million and sold it for $4.5 billion to us. So there’s that.

— Nathan Cullen (@nathancullen) May 31, 2018

Grand Chief Stewart Philip, president of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, stated: “We are absolutely shocked and appalled that Canada is willingly investing taxpayers’ money in such a highly controversial fossil fuel expansion project.”

Canadians will pay $4.5 billion for a 60-year-old pipeline. Not one cent of that will go towards expanding Trans Mountain. How did Justin Trudeau take us from Kinder Morgan spending billions in Canada, to billions of Canadian tax dollars leaving? The Trudeau Liberals have failed.
— Andrew Scheer (@AndrewScheer) May 30, 2018

“We will not stand down no matter who buys this ill-fated and exorbitantly priced pipeline.”

Just a few weeks ago, it would have been hard to imagine the soft-spoken, progressive leader Mr Trudeau, who often calls himself a feminist, as someone going all out for the oil industry, but in this case that is just what he did.

$4.5 billion could cover the ave. tuition costs of 684,827 students, put #solar systems on 180,000 homes, build 2045 #wind turbines, buy 2,380,952,380 tacos or get you a leaking pipeline:

Canada chose the pipeline. What would you choose?#cdnpoli #bcpoli
— Mike Hudema (@MikeHudema) May 31, 2018

The problem for all his supporters is that underneath all that kindness and progressive talk, many seem to forget that Mr Trudeau told oil executives at a meeting in 2017 that “no country would find 173bn barrels of oil in the ground and just leave it there,” however by doing so Canadians will thus become one of the largest emitters of carbon in the world, and thus surpass the red line he himself undersigned at the climate accord in Paris.

Former US President Barack Obama similarly delayed a decision over a likewise project known as the Keystone XL pipeline. in the end, he chose for the climate and rejected building US infrastructure on the grounds of scientific global warming proof.

Mr Trudeau has just made the exact opposite call, meaning he’s lost a lot of possible criticism on US President Trump. We’re eager to see how this plays out.

I wonder how many of these snowflakes arrived by transportation that used Fossil Fuels (oil) Or Electric vehicles that the power source was built using Fossil Fuel equipment during construction?

I wonder how many are wearing :

Sneakers that use OIL based products?.

typical 60/40 Cotton/nylon t-shirts?

Elastic bands in their underwear?

or etc….
