Though no identity details have so far been made public, it would appear that a man on a train near Flensburg yesterday tried to stab several people and was then shot dead by a female police officer in the train.
The 22-year-old police woman who was travelling on the train saw just before 7pm local time that a man tried to attack another with a knife after a heated argument. It would seem she tried to calm things down but the knife attacker then pointed the weapon towards her after which she pulled her gun and shot him dead.

The events took place onboard an intercity train that was traveling to Flensburg via Cologne and Hamburg.

At the moment of the attack, the train was some 20 kilometers away from Flensburg station. Due to the events in neighboring Belgium (see our related coverage), police arrived in great numbers shortly afterwards.

German Interior Minister Mr Horst Seehofer claimed to be "deeply upset" by the attack. "Violence must never be tolerated, be it against the public or against the police."
The incident comes one day after an Islamist attacker shot three people in Belgium and in the same evening that an Islamist attacker tried to conflict wounds on people in a park in Holland with an axe (that man was shot).
