John Travolta's latest movie about the renown crime boss John Gotti is being hailed as the worst mob movie of all-time. Critics are slamming the film saying it is the worst movie of the year so far despite being a long-awaited biopic. The film Gotti is about the Gambino crime boss' rise through the ranks and how he reached the top of the crime family.

The film suffered many setbacks and ultimately took four directors, 44 producers and eight years to make. The troubled production shows in the film which critics are trashing without mercy. The thread that kept the film alive during production was its star, John Travolta. The 64-year-old film veteran has made his career out of Italian stereotypes but despite his efforts, the film is no "Godfather".
One scene finds Travolta slapping an underling and shouting, "whatsamattayou?!" in an attempt at a typical Italian trope which is more the butt of memes than cinematic gold. Don't worry, more amazing dialogue follows, '"You c–ksucker! This is gonna ruin your life!" Travolta shouts as he slaps the subject of his wrath again. Part of what ruins the films watch-ability is the way it bounces between 36 years of events without much coherence.

The mob boss biopic spans from 1979 to 2009 but in no particular order with stops in the eighties and the nineties in between. The final director of the film is Kevin Connolly who's career will no doubt take the brunt of the backlash. Critics further called out the shoddy editing, overly shuffled timeline and stylistically confused mob film sending it sinking to the bottom of this year's box office failures.

To be honest up front, I have not been to a Cell Phone growing, $15 Ticket $12.50 Popcorn & $5 drink movie theater in a good 9+ years.
But either way ….to me …. John Travolta is one of those actors that is all over the Acting map . An I have a problem getting in to whatever persona he is playing this time, without remembering the other roles that are directly opposite.
But he is Pro-Gun, more middle of the road , never endorsed Obama actor and I eventually will rent the movie to watch it at home.
