A couple was on their way to San Antonio’s University Hospital when the 38-week heavily pregnant wife felt the urgent need to use a bathroom. They stopped at a San Antonio Chick-fil-A branch but at past 10 p.m., the store was already closed, leaving the couple no choice but to bang on the door and plead their way inside.
Employees let them in, especially after seeing a very pregnant Falon Griffin. However, what was supposed to be just a quick bathroom trip turned into an emergency when the expecting mom felt she couldn’t hold anything in anymore. There was no more time to drive to the hospital. She just had to give birth where she was - at the restroom of Chick-fil-A.

Good thing, Falon’s husband, Robert was very supportive and reassuring. Robert shared: "I can see just the top of Gracelyn's head, just barely crowning, but I knew we couldn't go anywhere. So I told her, 'Sweetie, we're gonna do something great, and we're gonna do it right here and we're gonna do it right now.”
The remaining employees at that time were just as supportive, even though the couple estimated their ages to be not more than 25, and unsure if any of the women there had experienced giving birth already.
The restaurant’s drive-thru director, Brenda Enriquez, heard Falon’s high-pitched screaming and was quick enough to call 9-1-1 and while up until that point was used to only taking orders from customers, bravely took orders from the emergency dispatcher. Enriquez took such instructions as checking the color of the baby, and if it is crying.
The husband really stepped up, too. Robert handled the delivery of his daughter's birth - including hurdling some scary obstacles. Gracelyn's umbilical cord was fearfully twice wrapped around her neck. Robert was able to unwrap the cord, and his daughter thankfully then was able to take her first breath of air.
It wasn’t the ideal giving-birth scenario that Falon had in mind, considering they’ve been planning the momentous event for months. But a mother would do whatever it takes for the baby to come out of this world safely, no matter the circumstances she’s faced with.
Falon shared: "I couldn't control it. I was basically straddled to the toilet - I wasn't even sitting down. I was literally standing giving birth, with one hand on the wall and one hand holding her head."
The thing lasted only all of six minutes, but it gave birth not only to baby Gracelyn but to a lifetime of friendship between the Griffin couple and the Chick-fil-A employees who helped in their dire need.
Chick-fil-A has also given the baby a lifetime gift of free food in their restaurant, and a job when she turns 16 if she wants it.
