After scouring the internet for some of the weirdest and wild photos, here are the top ten favorites that caught my eye. The first features a bizarre form of nature known as mammary clouds, named after their resemblance to the utter of a mammal. Mammary clouds are formed by cold air that drops down in pouches in the convection of warm air.

This beautiful sunset was captured in Moscow at one of the city's largest bridges. The clouds form a majestic grouping that seems more like a painting or a scene from a high budget film. Clouds like these usually proceed a storm or indicate that one has recently passed as the sun is just starting to shine through the storm clouds.

This next photo features a water spout which can occur in even fair weather in the absence of high winds or storms. They form on the surface of the water and swirl upward as they reach up to the sky. Once they reach the clouds they too begin to swirl around the funnel making for an otherworldly and slightly unnerving phenomenon.

This giant manta ray was found tangled up in the anchor line of a fishing vessel. The largest threat to these odd, triangular-shaped specious are humans and their fishing nets. More manta rays are killed by becoming tangled in fishing nets than are killed by other sea creatures.

This massive, 28-foot crocodile was killed in Queensland in 1957. Despite its record size, this giant beast was shot and killed by a woman. Krystina Pawlowski gained national media attention for the photograph similarly to the way hunters face criticism for trophy hunts like these today.

This next photo beautifully captures the Milky Way galaxy above one of the most ancient sites Earth has to offer up to the cosmos. The spiral galaxy can be seen with its arms outstretched over the great pyramids of Giza. Egyptian mythology describes the Milky Way as a stream of cow's milk from the cow goddess of fertility, Bat.

This beautiful, but terrifying photo is a microscopic view of a spider's foot. Now it makes sense how these pesky arachnids are able to climb up walls and ceilings. The claw-like structures on the bottom of the spider's foot are great at sticking to things and help them both navigate their environment and capture prey.

Last but not least is this rare photo of the now-extinct thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Devil or Tasmanian Tiger. The Tasmanian Devil was the largest carnivorous marsupial in modern history. Much like its name suggests, the striped creature was native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea. These beautiful creatures hunted at night but became extinct from disease, hunting, and habitat loss.
