TRT World, the Turkish news network, had earlier this week asked Polish MP Dominik Tarczyński of the governing Law and Justice Party, for a debate about immigration, a topic that is in the news again both in Turkey and in Poland.
As one of the so-called Visograd countries (the group of four consisting of Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Poland continues to refuse to accept any refugees, whereas Turkey is housing millions of Syrians and Iraqis who have fled the wars in camps, unable to transport them to Europe, where they want to go.

The TRT Presenter asked Mr Tarczyński why Poland continued to refuse to take in any refugees, to which he retorted: “Where is Saudi Arabia, one of the richest countries in the world, where is Qatar? Most of the refugees are Muslims which are neighbors to this country, so why you are calling this a European problem?”

Furthermore, according to Mr Tarczyński, Turkey is receiving cash payment from the European Union for housing the refugees as the Turkish government had otherwise threatened to flood Europe with migrants unless.
The official numbers were never released but it is rumored that Turkey now receives 3 billion Euros per year in aid for housing the Syrian refugees and refraining them from entering Europe via Greece.

The immigration issue is heating up in Europe again after both the Balkan route (via Greece) and the Libyan route (via Italy) were closed off, leaving Spain with a large influx off illegal immigrants. So far, some 23,500 of them have entered via Morocco, more than Spain received in the whole of last year.
