It would have certainly provoked angry reactions and fervent condemnation from many, especially from the liberals who are always ready to pounce on Trump supporters. Except for one thing… the story was false.
A Long Island woman fabricated a story about a Trump-related hate crime, and now faces charges related to it.
The proponent of this fake news, false story and accusation has been identified as 19-year-old Adowa Lewis of Baldwin.
Officials said that Lewis told police on Friday that she was driving home when a group of teenagers approached her, aggressively yelled at her “Trump 2016!” and supposedly told her she didn’t belong there.
Lewis claimed she went ahead to park her car in front of her house, presumably ignoring the taunts. She added to her claims, however, that after she woke up the next day, she found her tires were slashed with a note that read, “Go Home.”
The police mounted an investigation and they found Lewis had lied about her alleged Trump-related hate crime. The police said that in reality, no altercation took place. Lewis also admitted when pressed that she wrote the supposed hateful note herself and placed it on her own car.
It is not clear, however, what was her motive for making the false accusation, if it is just on a personal whim or if it has political overtures, and she wanted to put Trump supporters in a bad light.
What Lewis did was not received well by social media users who condemned her false story.

Lewis is charged with making a false punishable written statement and was released on an appearance ticket.
