White House press secretary Ms. Sarah Sanders reacted to the speculation in the media that US President Donald Trump had somehow limited the scope of the FBI investigation into Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual assault. Speaking during an interview with Fox’s Chris Wallace, Ms. Sanders claimed that the White House was in no way "micromanaging" the inquiry.

Her answer came after several US media outlets reported during the weekend that the scope of the FBI investigation, which is already limited to a duration of 1 week, was further being constrained by the White House. There was even speculation that the fact that one of Mr. Kavanaugh's accusers, Julie Swetnick, would not be interviewed, was on order of President Trump.

Press reports noted that the FBI will question four people during their weeklong investigation: Ms Deborah Ramirez, who claim that Judge Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a party when they were both students at Yale University; Mr Mark Judge, the personal friend of Judge Kavanaugh whom Ms. Christine Blasey Ford identified as being the other person in the room when she was sexually assaulted at a party in 1982; and lastly Mr Leland Keyser and Mr PJ Smyth, who Dr. Ford claimed were also at the said gathering in 1982.
